The Center is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors, representing a cross-section of the community. Board members serve staggered three-year terms with three members elected each year.
Board meetings are open to the public.
Brian PartridgePresident
Is an Associate Professor in Psychology for the University of Alaska. Brian earned his PhD from Texas A&M University in 2009. He has a long history of community service and involvement participating on multiple boards and giving his time freely to multiple volunteer organizations. A long-time advocate for those that may not always be able to advocate for themselves, Brian has served as the Board President and Vice President.
Dr. Tim ScheffelSecretary
Is a family medicine doctor in Homer, Alaska. He received his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years. HE currently serves as the Board Secretary and Treasurer. When he’s not out on the Kachemak Bay, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren.

Jocelyn BrownMember
Jocelynn is a Protective Services Specialist for the State of Alaska Department of Family and Community Services, in the Office of Children’s Services, where she works to keep families together, and coordinates access to services to help them reach their safety and wellness goals. She brings an understanding of systems and resources that SPBHS clients interface with on a regular basis, Jocelynn loves the outdoors, and fishing with her husband and children.
Ahnie LiteckyMember
By day, mild mannered freelance academic researcher, writer, and editor, by later in the day, nonprofit and board member veteran with a long history working within agencies very similar to SPBHS. Ahnie has also worked as a writer and lecturer in Egypt, and Historical Researcher in Montana. Ahnie loves to travel with her family and invests her time in her children’s schools.
John CalhounMember
John Calhoun’s resume could be described as eclectic, from door-to-door tomato sales in Kansas in the 1950s, jobs in construction, and computer coding, to award winning real estate broker, and Homer Mayor. John also brings experience from different board positions, and as a Homer resident since 1978 brings historical knowledge of Homer and the operations of our community stakeholders. John and his wife enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, and volunteering at their local church.
